Making Croydon Viral
We’re always excited to see other people talking positively about Croydon and @rhysstroulger is doing just that 👌
Previously based in Brighton, Rhys moved to Croydon earlier this year and has been blowing-up social media feeds with his videos ever since.
Last week, we met for coffee @cafe_in_croydon with the man making Croydon go viral. 🙌
Rhys had been sharing videos on his Tik Tok for a few years, but in a similar story to our own, started sharing content about his new hometown of Croydon to show people a different side to the borough.
What began with him posting a video of @coachhousecafecroydon, soon blew up - with subsequent videos featuring the likes of @laspeziadeli (77k views), the Addington Hills view point (87k views) and @tokiasquare (219k views). 👏
There are a lot of Croydon haters out there - but there are also a lot of people working hard to improve things.
Welcome to ‘Team Croydon’ Rhys 🙂
A Croydon Man
After rave reviews of his performance in @a24’s (Oscar-nominated) ‘A Different Man,’ #CroydonBoy @adampearson, is now set to play the lead role of Joseph Merrick in ‘The Elephant Man’, a new feature film adaptation of Bernard Pomerance’s Tony-winning play. 🙌
The screenplay has been written by Bernard’s son, Moby Pomerance, and filming is scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
As Adam told @variety magazine, “Joseph Merrick is a man I have a long and complex relationship with. From having his name used as a term of derision to learning about the man himself in documentaries I’ve presented. It’s been a cathartic journey of growing to love and respect a man who I as a child I avoided even thinking about. Now as a disability advocate and actor, I can think of no greater honour (yet heavy responsibility) than to tell the true story of Joseph Carey Merrick.”
Go get that Oscar Adam 😉
East vs West
#CroydonBoy Nabil (who is performing at @croydonfairfield next month) sure caused a stir with this one 😜
Raving Reporter
Last month, we introduced our first intake of Raving Reporters. 🎤
These local residents have been tasked with helping us change the narrative about Croydon, by sharing what they love about living here. 😀
Next up, is @charlotte.ei.ldn, who was keen to spotlight one of her favourite hangouts - Waddon Ponds. 🌲 🌷 🦆 🪿

All future @stormzy releases should come with a @croydonfm jingle included right?! 😜

The team - headed up by Clive and Phoebe - are big believers in the power of local voices and are committed to providing a platform for them to be heard.
